We all have different values and beliefs and while variety is great for innovation, differences in values and beliefs can be counterproductive when an organisation or team is trying to achieve a goal.  So how do you communicate organizational values and beliefs to try and get everyone pulling in the same direction?

One way is to create a dramatic story with a fictional character to demonstrate what happens if a particular value or values are not adhered to.  Your fictional character and a powerful story can bring your message to life in a meaningful way for your audience much more than a traditional ‘We need to follow x behaviour because it’s the right thing to do’.

Tips for constructing your story:

  • Base it on hypothetical story to avoid controversy
  • Ensure your behaviour consistently represents the value (s) you are describing
